High Commissioner of South Africa called on Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Defence Production
Islamabad: Pakistan and South Africa decided to enhance defence cooperation. This understanding reached during a call on of High Commissioner of South Africa, Mr. Mpendulo Kumalu and Federal Minister for Defence Production (MoDP) Rana Tanveer Hussain on Friday. They exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and enhancing cooperation in defence production, Culture, Tourism, Agriculture, Science and Technology. Minister also thanked for hospitality shown during his visit to South Africa to attend Aerospace and Defence Exhibition (AAD-2016).
Pakistan and South Africa enjoy warm and cordial relations ever since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries in 1994, Minister said. He also mentioned that people of Pakistan are proud to walk the last mile towards South African freedom. He gladly said to host twice late President Nelson Mandela to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and he was an honour.
Rana Tanveer Hussain reiterated the need of cooperation in the defence field and said two sides should explore possibilities of joint venture. Relaxation of Tourism visa policy was also discussed with the High Commissioner and the problems of family visa being faced by Pakistani Community in South Africa.
The minister expressed his desire to exchange mutual delegations at all levels. He also extended the invitation for Defence Minister of South Africa to attend the IDEAS.
The High Commissioner assured all his efforts to resolve visa problems of Pakistanis residing in South Africa. He also thanked Pakistan’s support for freedom of South Africa from apartheid regime. Pakistan was at the forefront of the international efforts to dismantle the apartheid system.
